"My motivation has always been simple: do the things that seem impossible to me, and keep breaking the limits I set for myself."
Chris Gkoufas
Where it started.
Chris grew up playing competitive basketball. He was good enough to earn a full athletic scholarship to university, a door that opened through years of discipline, team competition and an early understanding of what structured training could unlock in an athlete.
After university, his identity as a basketball player didn't simply fade. It transformed. The competitive drive, the daily structure, the need to test himself. Those didn't go anywhere. They just needed a new arena. That arena turned out to be endurance running, and the entry point was a half marathon.
Two years. Five marathons. Then the ultras.
From that first half marathon, the progression was rapid. Within two years Chris had completed five full marathons, not simply finishing them, but using each one to refine his understanding of pacing, physiological output and what his body could handle at threshold.
Then the distances got longer. A 50km. A 75km. A 100km. Each one a deliberate step into territory that felt, at the time, genuinely out of reach. That feeling, the one where something seems impossible, became the signal, not the warning.
Notable achievements.
5 Marathons
Completed within two years of transitioning from team sport to endurance running.
50km Ultramarathon
First step beyond the marathon distance, the beginning of the ultra chapter.
75km Ultramarathon
Continued progression through the ultra distances, each one a new limit to break.
100km Ultramarathon
A full 100km, a distance that marks serious intent in the ultra world.
Ultra Scotland, 104 miles · GB Ultras
Completed 6 June 2026. 104 miles through the Scottish Highlands, 5,300m+ elevation, 29 hours. His first 100-mile race. The hardest thing he has done.
Athletic Scholarship, Basketball
Earned a full athletic scholarship to university through competitive basketball, the foundation of everything that followed.
Scotland. 104 miles. 5,300 metres of elevation.
The most recent chapter is the biggest one. On 6 June 2026, Chris completed Ultra Scotland (104 miles through the Scottish Highlands with 5,300m+ of total elevation gain) in 29 hours. His first 100-mile race. Persistent rain meant his shoes and socks stayed wet from the start line to the finish. By the final 21 kilometres, significant blistering made every step a considered effort.
He didn't consider stopping. He crossed the line alongside a fellow DVOTION coach, both of them having prepared, suffered and finished together.
This was not a race entered on a whim. It was the logical endpoint of a years-long process of building, testing, recovering and building again, the same process DVOTION applies to every athlete it works with, applied now to its own founder.

Why he does it.
The thread running through all of it, from the basketball court to the Scottish Highlands, is the same. Chris is drawn to the things that seem impossible to him. Not because suffering is the goal, but because the gap between "I can't do that" and "I just did that" is where real growth lives.
That philosophy is not separate from DVOTION. It is DVOTION. The platform exists because Chris wanted every committed athlete to have access to the same quality of preparation that allowed him to walk up to a 106-mile start line confident, trained and ready.
